“Good quality at reasonable price”

I was recommended to Sam from Eightytwo by by daughter, and I was very happy that I made the right choice. Generally, the work done was satisfactory, and Sam provided us with a design that suited our budget, while retaining the style that we wanted. However, the renovation did not finish on schedule, and I could only move in 2 weeks later than planned. Value-wise, Eightytwo provided good quality for a very reasonable cost.

“All branding, no backbone: why we regret hiring EightyTwo”

We hired Eighty Two for a full condo renovation. They promised high quality materials but installed visibly lower quality ones instead — thin, hollow partition walls and feather-light bedroom doors. This was not subtle. When we raised these issues, they went silent, delayed replies, and dragged out rectifications. Some problems were eventually fixed, but many remain unresolved. Their workmanship was unacceptable. Within 4 months, our floorboards started peeling and became so uneven that you could trip over them. Instead of fixing the root issue, they nailed the boards down as a quick fix because redoing it properly would have been too disruptive once our furniture was already in. Customer service was even worse. They were attentive during the sales phase, but once payment was made, communication became evasive and selective. Emails went unanswered for months, and replies ignored key issues. We repeatedly asked to speak with the owner, Terence Neo, who we were told makes these decisions. All requests were ignored. While he is not obligated to meet us, it reflects the company’s lack of accountability. This company is all branding, no backbone. Nice office, strong sales pitch — but poor standards, poor follow-through, and poor integrity.

Design

They contributed very minimally to aesthetics as it was mostly from my Pinterest. One thing they did though, built a vanity sink for my powder room that turned out absurdly oversized and jutting out. Instead of owning the mistake, they tried to charge us to fix their own design error (make a new sink). How ridiculous

Workmanship

Customer Service

Their customer service was even worse. They were fantastic while selling, but once payment and handover was made, communication became evasive and selective. Emails went unanswered for months, and replies ignored key issues. On top of that, there was constant staff turnover — our contractor left, one of our designers left, and even the concierge who convinced us to sign has been on leave and silent for months. There was no continuity, no ownership, and no accountability. It felt like they were trying to wear us down until we gave up.

Value for Money

We paid $330/sqm. What do you think? There was an unexplained $8,000 discrepancy in one of the invoices that they failed to justify. Despite repeated follow ups, they have refused to refund it or take any action.
