SOLID architects

Solid Architects was in charge of the reconstruction of our semi-detached house from beginning to end, which spanned 2 years in total. From designing of the house to the process of contractor tender, interior design and handover process, Solid Architects exceeded our expectations. During the designing phase, they took time to understand our needs as a multi-generational family living under one roof, patient to listen and modify where necessary. They are also able to marry aesthetics and function. They met our criteria of wanting a brightly lit home through use of a light well, that cuts through all 3 stories of the whole house. Future plans of how room usage may change (eg. when kids grow up and the big room could be split into two) were also taken into account. We also wanted big common areas (to host gatherings for friends and relatives), and they fulfil that through the use of foldable doors which extend our living and dining rooms the patio and garden into as a seamless open area. The older folks also love arches as a design element, which they were able to incorporate it through the interior design. The tender process was also made palatable to the us, when they were patient to explain to the processes, terminologies, implications. The team also helped to compare costs of several contractors. During the construction period, they were organised in keeping track of progress, pushed the contractors to meet the deadlines when needed and communicated on our behalf with the sub-contractors. Their great project management skills made the process a lot less painful for us. We felt very assured that they were looking out for our interests, which was key in such home projects. If i were to point out an area for improvement, it would be on understanding the needs of a family that has young kids. In terms of flooring types, usage of spaces and kitchen needs which may require special attention, which children could handle in more rough manner. Overall, they were meticulous, and is willing to relook at plans to help us cut costs (with minimal sacrifice to aesthetics), positive and easy to work with. Of course, they are not specialists in every field, but they tried their best in providing the most ideal recommendations from their experience and knowledge, and are also willing research to support their recommendations. We love the house that they designed and we will highly recommend their services!
