“New Age "Virtual" ID”
I do not know Ted as a person but engaged Ted iD based on their portfolio of past works + the meagre & outdated Facebook reviews (mostly from friends & referrals). It is no wonder my renovation experience wasn’t anything like their customers’ reviews at all. I started my renovation plans about 6 months before key collection & had met up with almost 10 ID firms in total but eventually chose Ted iD & stick through it till completion despite endless delays way beyond my move in date. My simple project which shouldn’t take 4 weeks to complete (partial renovation without hacking works, minimal carpentry with design provided) spanned almost a year from making 1st enquiry (Jul’17) renovation (Nov’17 to Feb’18) move in (6 weeks late) post renovation defects rectifications (Mar-Jun’18). And more excitement after that. The entire period was like paying to wait & my project was never a priority. The workers did the works mostly either in the evening or during weekends & PH (when they were already tired after finishing other projects). My ID cum their boss didn’t check the works done even though the team of foreign workers were fairly new. Everything was managed “remotely” (virtual?) which reminds me of an online purchase. No site inspection or proper handover. When asked, Ted said he only goes to site when there is a serious problem. Nothing is ever serious except for collecting payment. I had to do all the checking myself (whether I understand them or not) which I’m not trained in their field of work. During the waiting period in between, I discovered some misled pricing cum overcharges & disputed items which a refund of about S$1k+ was already agreed by Ted himself but was eventually defaulted, the 2-year warranty was also not honoured & he had cut off communications from me completely after being angry with me for being angry with him for short-changing & swopping of the originally agreed, quoted & paid for Nippon to Jotun white paint without informing, discussing or explaining (except blaming on his workers). Furthermore, when questioned a few times on the ambiguity pertaining to flooring price which was quite high, he gave contradicting & inconsistent answers which I wasn’t convinced & felt baffled. He said he felt very Txx Lxx to have to revisit the same issue. I feel so sorry for him. The actions of a person speak for itself which needs no elaboration. I had been more than patient, reasonable & tolerant throughout. Who is comfortable with a service provider like this? For the business & support that we gave, this is the attitude we got in return. I was flabbergasted by the arrogance, unapologetic service lapse & dishonesty. While I get to speak with the other IDs whom I met earlier to gauge the level of comfort & understand their ways of working, I completely missed the “screening” assessment with Ted iD as Ted took over my project only in the last minute due to staff turnover. And the greatest mistake is to have been too patient with him. Some company websites could appear so impressive & promising but eventually, it’s the person’s integrity that determines everything – whether they’re strong in holding their values (if any).
N.A. (design was provided by owner).
Minor defects already started to surface since moved in until now.
1. The workers were generally rather polite & well behaved (the only consolation). 2. The boss' attitude was okay at the beginning but was totally crap towards the end. The service approach was more "profit-driven" than "customer-oriented".
Not worth the frustrations for sure.
