Reviews Insight

New!

This is an AI-generated summary based on 10 homeowner reviews.

Homeowners most often praise responsive communication, hands-on supervision by the firm's team, and designers who challenge impractical ideas while still incorporating the homeowner's brief. Post-handover follow-up on defects and small fixes is another consistent strength. The reviews are dated 2017 to 2020, and the more critical reviews describe workmanship, trade coordination and pricing concerns, and the experience appears to vary by assigned designer.

What homeowners value most

  • Quick follow-up on defects and small fixes after handover
  • Designers push back on impractical ideas rather than agreeing to everything
  • Regular progress updates and responsive messaging during works
  • Hands-on supervision by a senior member on site when issues arise

Things to take note

  • Workmanship consistency and defects were a recurring issue in 2017 reviews
  • Trade scheduling and coordination of overlapping workers
  • Pricing is seen as premium by some homeowners, and quotation disputes occurred

Best for homeowners who are

  • Homeowners who want regular progress updates and minimal need to chase the team
  • Homeowners who want designers to challenge impractical ideas and offer professional judgement
  • Homeowners who value post-handover follow-up and quick fixes for minor faults

“2 Years on”

It has been 2 years since Annette and Jason led the renovation project and every day that I come into the apartment I feel so grateful to them for the wonderful job that they did. It was executed beautifully with the minimum of fuss and within the agreed budget. Our friends have taken photos of the kitchen in an attempt to recreate the kitchen that Annette designed for us. The new extra-large windows give us wonderful views. All the trades, supervised by Jason, did an excellent job. You won't go wrong with Orange Cube.

Design

The overall design in silver and light greys works very will to deliver a simple yet sophisticatec look. while the kitchen is admired by all.

Workmanship

Extra effort was put into ensuring all finishes were to the highest standard and the floor tiles presented a continuous marbling with absolutely minimal grouting between tiles.

Customer Service

The best thing about the service was the consistent communication over all aspects of the project with immediate responses to queries and observations from the WhatsApp group formed for the project. While I am sure we tested Annette's patience at times we all got on very well.

Value for Money

While Orange Cube was not the cheapest quote we got, bearing in mind the excellent customer service and amazing attention to detail, I would say we got more than we paid for in the end.

“Highly recommended and reliable! ”

We bought an original condition 1,400 sqft condo and needed a complete renovation. Met designer Karen and immediately felt very comfortable with working with her. She gives great advise, extremely knowledgeable and budget thoughtful. We were informed and get update on the work progress regularly. Jason her boss was on-site whenever there were issues to be resolved and he is very helpful and resourceful on solving problems. My wife and I are very thankful that they managed to fulfill our dream home on time and on budget. Don’t waste your time looking around. Call Karen and satisfaction guaranteed!! “Happy Customers From The Listening Lab”

I used Karen from The Orange Cube to design and build a chain of hearing centres in Singapore. I was very pleased at the result and her design and execution really exceeded our requirements! From the design, build and review and repairs, her service was top notch. I would definitely recommend her and will go back to her to build our remaining shops. Orange Cube's prices were also very affordable especially when they could also provide design and renderings to make sure that the design in mind was visually what I wanted before i committed to the build. After the build, they promptly amended and rectified things I was not fully satisfied with. I really appreciate the attention to detail and I am happy they value me as a customer!

Design

I loved the design and she followed the original concept we had and was able to make it both practical and beautiful.

Workmanship

Karen was very hands on with the design from the selection of materials to the carpentry.

Customer Service

The customer service was great. Over the next few months there were some touchups and amendments needed and she was always promptly able to resolve them.

Value for Money

It was a great decision to use their services for my company. Will be a repeat customer for my next few centres!

“great reno results”

We got our keys last yr and engaged Orange Cube for some simple reno - mainly living room and a revamp for our bathrooms. Chanced upon Karen and we got great engagement working together, gave her a rough concept of what we wanted and she did the rest, and what we love was being able to convey our ideas into reality coupled with the courage and professionlism to rebutt our ideas if it doesnt work or look good to the end result - exactly what we thought a professional ID should do rather than saying yes to everything without designer judgement. The process was really enjoyable, with 3D drawings to selection of material and then slowly witnessing the transform of our dreams to reality when work started. What was pretty remarkable was the putting up together some wine racks we bought (like yrs ago as we love it so much). The brief was to make it a functional art piece - which the apparent challenge was to allocate a space with our already small 3BR living room. The amazing thing was she manage to do it in the end after giving much serious thoughts to space planning, and hiding the ugly junction box. Our master BR was really small so we wanted to utilize the maximum possible for our master bathroom. Told Karen our daily habits and needs and she got me an awesome makeup area in there, a personal space I really indulge myself in everyday. Of course the renovation process may not be perfect but what is more important are the deliverables at the end of project when the keys are handled back to us. We are very satisfied with the overall design and functionality, and quality of the carpentry - now that I am writing this after 1.5 yrs moving in. During the warranty period, Orange Cube fixed our minor defects (about 1-2 ?) we found and Karen fixed it almost immediately. The total reno cost was also within our budget - we feared most companies out there may slaughter first time homer owners especially We are very proud owners till this day and never fail to get friends’ praises when they visit.

“Passionate Renovation ID”

I just moved in to my new home in West Coast and I wish to share my positive experience. Our key criteria was not about the reno cost alone but quality workmanship as well as design and Karen has absolutely delivered on all fronts. We met with Karen and shared our high level ideas on how we want our home to be. We felt so comfortable liaising with her and she will further improved on the idea while balancing cost, practicality and design. After renovation was completed, she continue to respond us to on a timely basis on any question we may have as well follow up on the minor improvement we suggested. This is rare based on our past experience with other contractor. I should also add that Karen is very passionate about his job as her goal is to create a beautiful home for family. Will definitely look for her for any future renovation work. Cheers

“Highly recommended. ”

Karen and orange cube did a good job at my condo. Karen understands my needs and taste. Some of the things on my wanted list werent exactly practical and i am glad she pointed them out. She was extremely patience with my repeated changes in designs. The renovation was on time. The workmanship is good. Most importantly, their after sale services were wonderful, from minor issue such as a faulty switch to sliding door issue; Karen was always a phone call away and helpful.

“Exceeded expectations for our new home renovation”

We engaged Chris from Orange cube on a recommendation from a friend. As it is our first home, we had specific designs that we had in mind and needed someone we can trust to deliver on them. Upon consultation with Chris, she communicated well with us and was very knowledgable in how we could go forward with our home renovation, including some intelligent suggestions that we wouldn't have thought of. All in all, it was an excellent experience as her team was able to deliver the requirements that we specified before the due date and was very prompt in answering all the follow up questions that was required. However, what has set this firm apart is the follow up and excellent customer service (which has prompted my review) from Chris. Recently, one of the drawers had malfunctioned 4 years on, and upon contacting her, without hesitation she had one of her contractors come by and fix it for me the very next day. This is indeed a rarity as many will forget you once your home is "done". Kudos to Chris and her Orange Cube team. keep up the good work!

“Good designer and quality workmanship”

During our process of searching for an ID, we initially found it hard to choose one we trust. However, we made up our minds soon when we met Selvina. We were bowled over by the drawings and designs that Orange Cube showed us right from the start. The ID captured what we wanted and incorporated our visions into a singular design! We are happy with the quality of the work done and the attention paid to the smallest details like colours and glass furnishings. So far, there has been no major issues since we've moved in.

Design

The design was what wooed us over, as we had a patchwork of ideas but didnt have an overriding theme. Our designer was able to give us a few attractive proposals.

“Quality checks can be improved”

I first met with Orange Cube at Expo, and decide to engage their services after doing some online research on them. I found the works not very satisfactory, especially with their slow response after I notified them of some defects. My flooring was not done evenly, and my wardrobe doors started to fall off. Also, my skirting also started to peel off, and the lights recommended by them all busted. Therefore, I feel that quality checks is definitely an area that can be improved. Although the renovation process was without any major problems, I still think that I did not get good value for money. I will hesitate to recommend Orange Cube to my friends.

“Bad experience with Orange Cube”

I engaged them (my ID is a 40++ woman) beginning of 2016. Initially they appeared to be very professional and always accommodate to all our requirements. After we signed the contract with them, true colors revealed. Totally trash services from Orange Cube. - they lost my house key given to her to open the door for contractors - forgot to lock the house main gate twice after contractors gone for the day - rush the project out as multiple works got delayed by her contractors. Quality compromised but she ignored. - she arranged 4 group of different workers to do work at the same time. You will see the painters holding the paint brush, rushing the guy who did the plastering quickly plaster so he can paint over. The plastering guy pushed the lighting guys quickly installed the lights so he can plaster the surrounding sites. At the same time, the carpenter still at works, some obstructing the lighting guy. The result, total disaster! Plastering was not dried, how can they paint over it immediately? - the painter painted my room with a color that was not chosen by me. Totally different color. Yet she argued with me that it s effect of sunlight so she insisted I saw wrongly. Until I get her to the site to look at it with her own eyes, then she admitted it's wrong. (Yes, she hardly came to the site to supervise the workers, i did her job!) - miscalculated the size of my wardrobe. Charged me high price but the actual size only half of what was paid. Demanded for discount or price adjustment on that. But she threatened me to court if I don't pay full according to her first quote. - went to see her boss to sort out the price dispute and many quality issues, as she wanted me to pay balance amount even though many of the works are not done correctly or poor workmanship. I requested to redo those then I pay all. - this one I will remember for life! The best of the best!!!! After hearing my feedbacks about the poor quality of works, the boss from HK responded coldly to me, "THE WORKS ARE NOT DONE NICELY, BUT NOBODY DIE DURING THE COURSE OF WORKS RIGHT?" Such a rude boss, no wonder his ID are behaving like him as well. Workmanship is a total disappointment. Now...1year after reno, I can tell you 90% of their finished works need to be repaired or redo. We paid high fees for what she promised a high quality works but actually it's overstated and over promised. That's why I'm here to look for contractors to redo the works. To be honest, their fees not cheap. But they promised high premium services and they did good job at packaging themselves until many have the impression that they're really good. I don't mind to pay premium fees for good services and good works. But for this case, it's paying high fees for BIG regrets. I didn't write to feedback about them last year after the project is over, it's because I didn't want to waste my time on them. But throughout this one year, all the defects surfaced so I have more facts to support me to feedback now.

Design

towards the end of designing phase, she ran out of idea for my son's room (we didn't accept her first two designs as she designed my 5yo son's room like an adult room.) hence at the end I came out design myself.
