“Absolute trash”

Met up with Hafi in January to discuss our renovation. Got our keys in March and reno officially started on 10 June. It’s now December and the place is only 50% completed. Hafi keeps giving excuses for the delays such as leaking and having to stop work because of investigations being conducted by SP services. Found out the following: 1) from the vendors directly that Hafi has not been responding to their messages about the timeline. 2) from SP directly that there were some shady practices happening in the unit by his electricians Innotrend pte ltd. When we confronted Hafi about this, his excuse was that he has no knowledge of electrical works and hence have no idea what was happening despite the fact that he is the project manager. So now, his excuse is that carpentry cannot do installation because there is no electricity available to do works which again is due to his own negligence. He only informed us after confronting again about the delays that his initial carpenters fell through and they had to scramble to find a new one. He has been lying about the progress as every week he will come up with new excuses to push the handover date since September. Furthermore, his workers have absolutely no respect for our new home. Every visit we had looks like the house has been trashed by them. There were random vandalisms, cigarette buts and cups being thrown all over. It’s either he’s absolutely clueless or he’s lying about the entire situation because it has been exasperating listening to his excuses that does not make any sense coming from an ID. The later seems more likely as he refuses to keep us updated despite the numerous reminders. We always only find out about what is happening upon visiting our unit and being disappointed with the lack of progress that’s being done. We have been living off our suitcases in a temporary space for over a month now with no confidence of the end in sight. Not only are we absolutely distraught with the service but the fact that they have been conducting works unlawfully. It’s such a traumatic experience for us as first-time homeowners. We are tired and just want to move in ASAP. Please have respect for others and their homes. We have spent a lot of money, time and energy unnecessarily on a professional who is far from being worth the price paid.

“Unreliable and Dishonest Service – A Nightmare Experience”

We began our journey with ThextonSmith Interiors in November 2024, entrusting our home renovation to Hafi after discovering the company on Instagram. Unfortunately, this marked the beginning of a deeply frustrating and disappointing experience. As of January 2025, our house remains incomplete, and Hafi has been consistently uncontactable. He is often "overseas" or dodges responsibility, blaming contractors or making excuses for the endless delays in plumbing, tiling, and carpentry work. The firm shows no sense of urgency or accountability, which is unacceptable considering the premium we paid for their services. A particularly egregious issue arose regarding our balcony setup. We expressed a desire to work with Soilboy for this project, and Hafi assured us he would handle it. He even presented design drawings, claiming they were from Soilboy. However, he refused to let us contact Soilboy directly, which raised red flags. Upon visiting Soilboy ourselves, we were shocked to learn that Hafi had never reached out to them. Worse, the "design" he showed us was a screenshot of another project Soilboy had previously completed. This level of dishonesty is appalling, especially since we had already made a down payment for the balcony setup, trusting it would be executed by our preferred vendor. Hafi’s actions and lack of professionalism have made this process a nightmare. We strongly caution anyone considering ThextonSmith Interiors to reconsider and look elsewhere for reliable, transparent, and respectful service.

“An interior designer that does not pay vendors and is willing to commit fraud”

Hafi (NOR HAFIZZUL HAKIM BIN SAZALI) has hurt a lot of people financially (owners and vendors) along the way, and he is one of the worst human beings i’ve met in my life. We first started our project with Hafi in May 2024. The designing process went smoothly at first, and we were thrilled with the promise of 3 months renovation. We started hacking in August 2024 together with the majority of our fees to Hafi and that was when the nightmare began. Hafi promised 3-4 weeks for carpentry to be installed. 2 months later, nothing. A month later things slowly started coming in but it was in no where going to reach the 3 month target he promised. Our appliances and deliveries started coming in as we were scheduled for a November handover. Carpentry was not finished but he had already varnished and set up wallpaper which forced us to revarnish again as everything got scratched. The biggest turning point was as we were waiting for our Dekton countertops to arrive, we discovered that Hafi not only has not paid the supplier, he has tried to install a fake Dekton Lookalike into our kitchen for half the price. He also faked a whatsapp conversation between the delivery guy to say that delivery has failed due to weather when in fact there was no order at all. Note that we have paid him for dekton countertops + commission. At this stage we went to the dekton supplier ourselves to place the order and issued him the invoice. He tried to play many games like asking the dekton supplier to lie and say he has paid when in fact he hasn’t, and using Giro payment instead of FAST to prolong the processing time. At this stage I have decided to take over the project management and speak to the vendors directly. This was when I discovered that he has owed almost all the vendors thousands of dollars, including debts from previous projects which is why they have been delaying delivering the products. For some vendors, I have had to pay double (already paid Hafi and on top paying the vendors again) for the sake of completing my apartment. His electricians are not qualified at all and none of the internet cables he has installed worked. We had to have an external team redo the wiring which added to our renovation cost. Everything he delivers is of poor quality despite his premium prices. He also does not deliver the brand name items as promised in quote and instead provides cheap alternatives. Throughout all this, Hafi has the audacity to face us with a cheerful “Hi how are you!” and acted like he has done nothing wrong. The next shocking incident was 1 month after the dekton incident, we have decided to proceed with the renovation without him because it had so many delays due to him not paying ANY of the vendors. I managed to get in touch with some of them and have engaged them separately, paying on top what i have already paid hafi to complete the works. I also engaged other electricians to complete the works as his were unlicensed and incapable. For example also spending $4k+ with my own vendor to regrout the whole house. After all this, Hafi has the audacity to send a message threatening me that his warranty will be void if I use third party vendors and that I am not allowed to speak to any of his vendors directly. What kind of delusional world does he live in? What kind of warranty is he talking about? None of his vendors want to complete the works due to no payment and he thinks they will uphold warranty with him?! The next frustrating incident happened towards the end of my renovation process. I realized that a powerplug in my island had no power. After consulting with the most recent electrician hired by hafi (Electrician B) as well as other electricians I have asked to troubleshoot the issue out of pocket, everyone suggested I find the original electrician who did the works to best fix it. The island was not attached to any walls and everything is concealed so a new electrician would not be able to tell where the cable leads to. The last resort would be removing the tiles and carpentry to run and new wire which would be a much bigger project compared to going to the original electrician. After getting in touch with the original electrician on my own (Electrican A), I learned that Electrician A stopped working on our project because Hafi did not pay him. But the good news was Electrician A would be able to fix my problem in 5 minutes because he knows where the issue is. However he wants to only fix it if Hafi pays Electrician A a small portion of what he owes. Hafi as of now has refused to pay Electrician A this fee. There are also many other vendors that have completed works and Hafi has refused to pay the balance, constantly giving excuses and 2 months (and counting) after they have delivered their product, they have yet to receive payment. I am happy to amend my review if Hafi makes payments to the vendors but as of now it has not yet happened unfortunately. Hafi not paying his vendors have been a recurring problem throughout the renovation leading to massive delays and poor workmanship. If anyone has any questions please contact [email protected] I am happy to provide proof on any of my previous claims.

“Dishonest Vendor”

Invoice #2306111 Extremely unprofessional experience delivered by dishonest business owner - Hafi Hakim. This firm attempts to convey ability to deliver high end projects but working with them has been nothing short of a nightmare (have done multiple reno projects before and the degree of deceptiveness experienced with this firm is worth a CASE escalation). Design, project management and actual reno work all gets a grade F. Hafi Hakim was the ID/Project Manager for my unit, he is also listed as a company Director on ACRA (only other Director is Nolan Smith). Hafi Hakim was extremely dishonest and unprofessional - had a million excuses to be uncontactable, worst of all - he flat out lied about how had to go for an emergency surgery but actually went for a vacation (he couldn't resist posting his euro vacation IGS a day after telling me he had to be hospitalized for one week), understanding that such a decision will again slow down the project tremendously. Won the project with a mid February completion date, pushed back to mid April and now we are almost at June and nowhere close to completion. Hakim again lied about how assigned replacement project manager has been briefed on every detail and has been on multiple site visits (which never happened). At least the project manager was honest enough to admit he has only been hired for a week and hasn't been briefed about most of the details and hence was totally unable to project manage. Project completion has already been postponed by months and it's very painful to see all the effort and monetary resources culminate into an ID who is unprofessional and dishonest, resulting in workers scrambling to finishing the project. The only thing high end about THEXTON SMITH would be the price. That said, would not engage them even if their service was offered to me for free.
