“Unreliable and Unprofessional”

We met the Renogram designer for an initial discussion and spent a good amount of time going through our requirements, expecting a quotation to follow. None came. We then set a second appointment, but the designer didn't show up and didn't inform us beforehand, so we made the trip for nothing. We were later told it was due to a family emergency. We arranged to meet again, but this time the designer told us they couldn't take on our project after all. All that time spent discussing and travelling was wasted, and we never received a quotation. Things happen, but a simple heads-up would have made a big difference. Honestly, this attitude towards work left me and my husband stunned and disappointed. If you need a designer who is responsive and committed, better look elsewhere.

“⚠️ TILING WORKMANSHIP — LOOK CLOSELY AT THE FLOOR TRAP”

⚠️ TILING WORKMANSHIP — LOOK CLOSELY AT THE FLOOR TRAP As the designer involved in this project, this was the actual finishing delivered around the bathroom floor trap — uneven tile cuts, inconsistent joints and untidy detailing around an area that should have been properly planned and finished. For renovation works charged at a premium, homeowners should expect much better attention to detail. No photoshoot, no beautification — just the actual site condition. Look at the workmanship and decide for yourself whether this is the standard you would accept in your home.

“Another workmanship issue homeowners should be aware of.”

As the designer involved in this home, I witnessed disappointing tiling workmanship — uneven cuts and joints, poor finishing, and cracked/chipped tiles requiring attention. The appointed vendors charge premium rates, and ultimately these higher costs are borne by the homeowner and also create additional rectification costs and problems for designers like myself. These are actual site photos, not styled photoshoots. Looking at the workmanship shown, homeowners should ask themselves: is the premium price truly worth it? Before engaging Intheory Design, look beyond the beautiful completed photos and pay attention to the actual workmanship delivered on site. More documented cases to come.

“Sharing my personal experience regarding Intheory Design.”

I previously provided design/project services to Intheory and have firsthand knowledge of certain projects and issues that arose during that period. Some homeowners subsequently raised concerns with me regarding workmanship and rectification matters. Where I have discussed these matters publicly, I have relied on photographs, messages and other records available to me. On 23 September 2026, I received a formal notice from Intheory requiring the removal of certain online publications within 12 hours and stating that they may commence legal proceedings if I do not comply. I disagree with their position regarding the matters I have raised. I will preserve the relevant records and evidence and address any dispute through the appropriate process. I am sharing my own experience and the documented information available to me. Prospective homeowners should review the available information, ask questions and make their own assessment before engaging any renovation company.

“Disappointing experience as an enquiring client.”

Visited Intheory to understand their renovation services, but the overall experience was disappointing. The pricing wasn’t competitive compared with other ID firms I approached, and the workmanship displayed at the showroom did not give me confidence in the quality. The consultation also felt more focused on upselling additional items rather than understanding my actual needs and budget. For homeowners comparing ID firms, I would suggest looking around carefully and comparing the pricing, workmanship and proposed scope before committing.

“Another plumbing issue under Intheory.”

Another plumbing issue under Intheory. This time, the kitchen sink was leaking and the homeowner had already lost confidence in Intheory’s plumber, choosing to call an emergency plumber instead. As the designer, it’s disappointing to see homeowners dealing with problems like this after renovation works are completed. Homeowners, think twice. And unfortunately, there are more cases from other clients to come.

“A warning to homeowners considering Intheory for your renovation.”

A warning to homeowners considering Intheory for your renovation. As the designer handling this home, I feel homeowners should be aware of what happened during this project. The plumbing works were not carried out correctly, including the hot and cold water piping. This resulted in the homeowner being unable to properly use the shower during Chinese New Year. To rectify the issue, completed tiles had to be hacked open again to access the concealed piping. This created unnecessary dust, mess and disruption inside an already completed home. As the designer, I personally stepped in to coordinate and resolve the problem for the homeowner. Unfortunately, mistakes in workmanship like this affect not only the homeowner, but also the designer who has to manage the consequences and make sure the problem is eventually put right. Before engaging Intheory, homeowners should think twice and pay close attention to the quality and checking of concealed works before they are covered up. And unfortunately, this was not the only issue. There’s more to come.

“Poor Workmanship, lack of communication, and terrible contractor management.”

Engaging Goodman Interior was the worst decision of my first-time homeownership journey. I fell for their FB ads and 5-star Google reviews, but it became a total nightmare due to poor workmanship, lack of communication, and terrible contractor management. Here is the breakdown of my experience: Floor Tiling & Epoxy Grouting: The tile layout and grout lines were never advised and discussed by my ID. Poor tiling badly affected the epoxy grouting. The tiler blamed the materials and claimed unevenness just happens, making me suspect no pre-checks were done. I was kept in the dark until the end of the reno. My ID claimed had checked it and found no issues, forcing me to accept it. Furthermore, epoxy grouting was missing on several lines. My ID noticed this but hid it from me to "settle it first"—a massive lack of professional transparency. The rectification was botched with a mismatched color tone. I ultimately declined further fixes out of fear they would damage the tiles. Electrical Works: The ceiling fan was poorly installed, causing a loose top canopy and loud noise (rectified). A power point was also badly installed, leaving visible holes between the socket and the wall (rectified). Carpentry: I provided reference photos for my living room, dining, and bedroom settees, but the final outcome looks nothing like them. My ID failed to provide 3D or technical drawings before fabrication, causing massive miscommunication. The settee lids are misaligned, which the carpenter blamed on "hinges and measurements." My ID also overlooked a kitchen beam, forcing the top cabinet to be completely redone, and left a gap between the kitchen cabinets and mortar unsealed through two rectifications. Contractor Conduct: I caught the sliding door contractor smoking inside my living room on a Saturday, completely ignoring the "No Smoking" sign on the front door. The corner of the bedroom sliding door frame was damaged during installation and my ID failed to spot it (rectified). The toilet sliding door was poorly installed (rectified). I bumped into cleaners at my house at 7:45 PM without prior notice. My ID had zero control over their contractors. Painting: I caught a painter working at 7 PM who intended to stay until 10 PM. Painting should be done in proper daylight. The initial quality was terrible—patchy, uneven, with visible white and black spots across the house, requiring a full repaint. Windows: A bedroom window was damaged, causing a loud creaking sound. My ID absurdly blamed "wear and tear," even though the windows stayed closed before renovation and I hadn't even moved in yet. I also found a dent on the window mullion near handover which I declined to fix. ID Communication: My ID was assigned by the company. Throughout the project, some updates and rectifications were never shared promptly; I had to chase for information. I had to spot almost every defects and verify the rectifications myself. General cleaning was not done properly, the bomb shelter was dusty and some stains on the floor were not removed. Protection sheet was not removed properly under the main door. Goodman Interior advertises an "experienced team and skilled craftsmen," but my experience proves otherwise. Even after handover, defects remain. With this many severe lapses, they do not deserve a 5-star review and I deeply regret choosing them.

Design

There is no design from the ID at all. She asked how I would like to renovate my home and followed my ideals and concepts.

Workmanship

Tiling and Epoxy grouting were badly done. Poor workmanship for the carpentry works and electrical works.

Customer Service

Throughout the project, some updates and rectifications were never shared promptly; I had to chase for information.

Value for Money

With so many rectifications to be made, it does not value for money and waste of time. My window and sliding door frame were damaged during the renovation.

“Lousy company from Top to Bottom”

Had done a review in google, the director reached out to me to try resolve any issue. Informed him all i want is my 5 yrs guarantee and 1 yr Waterproof warrantee. On 3rd Sept he asked me to give him by the weekend and will update me. Its 15 Sept today still nothing, they don't surprise me anymore, my family got numb to it. Also there are reviews being done by their own Ids in Google not sure about here, guess to cover up the real reviews! For pics and main review view my google review https://share.google/ooLUhLc6U4fblyBNZ

Design

I had to tell exactly what i wanted, didn't propose anything useful to us. Their so call 3D drawing will never be accurate, when ask he say this is just rendering, if you want this, need to top up cash lol.

Workmanship

Their workers are all very rough, Tiling works were okay, but certain areas where it was hollow, their tiler mentioned since there is a 5 year warranty, don't need to worry. So like this means not perfect also can la cos they cover warranty lol. But i have yet to get my guarantee anw!

Customer Service

Service was excellent until we signed, everything we ask say can can. Once hacking day started their true colors came out, especially after we decided to do electrical and air con works by ourselves which is allowed eh!

Value for Money

Price seemed okay in the beginning. There were many thinks that we spoke and was agreed verbally but when it came to it, say no this one must top up if u want, so we decided to cancel rather than to fall into their trap!

“Strongly Disappointing Renovation Experience — Think Twice Before Engaging”

Our experience with this company in year 2025 was extremely disappointing. There were so many issues throughout our renovation that it is difficult to know where to begin. 1) Unprofessional Communication and Attitude. Michael, who was in charge of our new house and is also the company boss, was extremely disappointing in the way he communicated with us. Despite there being outstanding defects that had not been properly resolved, Michael accused us of delaying payment. We did not intentionally delay payment. We wanted to inspect the completed works and outstanding defects before making the payment, which we believe is a reasonable expectation for any homeowner. During our WhatsApp conversation, he also brought up the issue of “politeness” while communicating with us. Most shockingly, he made the following remark: “U all pray to Guanyin ma one, I also, her teaching is like this huh?” We found this comment highly inappropriate, disrespectful and completely unnecessary, especially coming from the owner of a renovation company during a discussion about workmanship, defects and payment. For us, the issue was not simply about renovation defects. It was also about how the contractor handled problems, took responsibility, communicated with us and treated us as customers. 2) Poor management and supervision: When we questioned the lack of supervision, Michael explained that his way of operating was different from other contractors because he “trusts” his workers to carry out the work. Unfortunately, the end result did not give us confidence in that approach. Numerous defects occurred and many mistakes were only discovered because we, as homeowners, had to identify and point them out ourselves. Michael also explained that he could not stay on site to supervise because he was suffering from back pain. While we can understand that personal health issues can affect his ability to be physically present, we believe there should still have been proper arrangements for a competent person to supervise the workers and ensure the quality of the work. 3) Poor quality workmanship and knowledge: We encountered numerous workmanship issues throughout the renovation, including: 1. Water ponding in the toilets, which was left unresolved. 2. Tiles damaged during the renovation due to poor handling and workmanship. 3. Toilet doors that could not close properly, despite the renovation being completed. 4. Loose and faulty toilet door handles that required attention. 5. Walls that were not properly painted, with uneven and unsatisfactory finishing. 6. Paint started peeling just a few months after the renovation was completed. Given how quickly the paint began to peel, we were left questioning whether proper surface preparation and painting procedures had been followed, or whether corners were cut during the renovation. 7. Multiple other defects and incomplete rectification works that remained unresolved. 8. Many of these issues could have been identified and prevented with proper on-site supervision and quality checks. 9: Power Tripped my whole house when the workers wanted to install a kitchen hanging rack. No proper checking before drilling thus power tripped my whole house. 10. Lack of accountability: Whenever something went wrong, we felt that there were always explanations and excuses instead of taking proper responsibility for the defects. 11. Delays caused by repeated rectification: Because work was repeatedly done incorrectly and had to be redone, the entire renovation process was delayed and became extremely stressful. 12. Unresolved defects but payment still being pursued: What was most upsetting was that there were still unresolved defects in our home, yet a debt collector was sent to pursue the outstanding payment. This review is based on our actual experience with the renovation of our home, and we are sharing it so that other homeowners can make a more informed decision.

Design

Drawing, yes. But when it came to the actual work, things were done wrongly and measurements were not properly checked. There was clearly no proper checking or coordination before the work was carried out. For example, the microwave placement was supposed to be at eye level. I had already informed Michael that the drawing was wrong, but in the end, the carpentry was still done according to the incorrect drawing. Now, every time I need to use the microwave, I have to stand on a chair to reach it. This is not acceptable and is also a safety concern. When instructions and corrections are given, they should be taken seriously and properly communicated to the workers. There seems to be a lack of proper planning, checking and coordination throughout the work. There are also so many defects that I have raised, but I do not see them being properly recorded or followed up by Michael anywhere. This gives me the impression that there is no proper defect tracking or quality control process in place. I am very disappointed with the way the work has been handled. I expected proper planning, measurements, checking and follow-up, rather than having to repeatedly point out the same issues after the work has already been completed.

Workmanship

The workmanship has been very disappointing and, frankly, unacceptable. There have been repeated mistakes, incorrect installations and poor finishing throughout the renovation. The team and workers do not seem to be sufficiently skilled or careful, and at times it feels like the work is being done without proper attention to detail or proper checking. For example, even something as simple as installing a door handle was done incorrectly, with the handle installed upside down. These are basic installation details that should have been checked before the work was handed over. The workmanship for the gate is also totally unacceptable. The quality of the materials and installation is poor. During the installation, the keyhole was drilled incorrectly and there are numerous scratches and damages on the gate. This should not have happened, especially for a new gate. There have also been repeated mistakes in measurements. Incorrect measurements have resulted in many items having to be redone, which has caused unnecessary delays and inconvenience. Overall, there appears to be a serious lack of proper planning, measurement, supervision and quality control. I should not have to repeatedly identify basic mistakes after the work has already been completed. I paid for a properly planned and professionally executed renovation, but the quality of workmanship and attention to detail so far has fallen far below what I expected. I cannot accept this level of workmanship and expect the outstanding defects and incorrect work to be properly addressed, with better supervision and quality control moving forward.

Customer Service

Unprofessional Communication and Attitude Michael, who was in charge of our project and is also the company owner, was extremely disappointing in the way he communicated with us. Despite there being outstanding defects that had not been properly resolved, Michael accused us of delaying payment. We did not intentionally delay payment. We wanted to inspect the completed works and outstanding defects before making the payment, which we believe is a reasonable expectation for any homeowner. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally and focusing on resolving the defects, we felt that he chose to pressure us regarding payment. During our WhatsApp conversation, he also brought up the issue of “politeness” while communicating with us. Most shockingly, he made the following remark: “U all pray Guanyin ma one, I also, her teaching is like this huh?” We found this comment highly inappropriate, disrespectful and completely unnecessary, especially coming from the owner of a renovation company during a discussion about workmanship, defects and payment. As a company owner, we expected him to communicate calmly, professionally and respectfully, particularly when we were raising legitimate concerns about defects in our new home. For us, the issue was not simply about renovation defects. It was also about how the contractor handled problems, took responsibility, communicated with us and treated us as customers. Unfortunately, our experience in all of these areas was extremely poor. • Poor management and supervision: When we questioned the lack of supervision, Michael explained that his way of operating was different from other contractors because he “trusts” his workers to carry out the work. Value for Money

In terms of value for money, I honestly feel that this renovation has been a complete waste of my time and money. I deeply regret engaging your company to renovate my new home. For a new home, I expected a professional team with proper planning, skilled workmanship, good supervision and attention to detail. Instead, I have had to deal with repeated mistakes, poor workmanship, rework, defects and unnecessary delays. The renovation has caused me a great deal of stress, inconvenience and disappointment. Rather than enjoying my new home, I am constantly having to follow up on problems and defects that should have been properly checked by the team in the first place. I am especially disappointed with the way my concerns have been handled by Michael. As the boss, I expected him to take ownership of the issues and ensure that they were properly resolved, rather than having me repeatedly chase and highlight the same problems. Considering the amount I have paid, I do not feel that I have received the level of service, workmanship or professionalism that represents good value for money. I sincerely regret choosing this company for my new home renovation.
