i will like to find out if this kind of sliding door can still open/close without a handle on it?

contractor said it will be difficult but i want to go for

minimalism. Anyone have this kind of sliding doors and do not have handles?

thanks.

Hey TS, contractor says it is difficult to built or difficult to open/close?

This is actually quite common in office spaces. But they are indeed not that convenient if your are opening/closing them for too many times daily.

Hi TS i think you mean you want glass panels like those shown in your photo, with a small round style handle right?

If not I am pretty sure you can ask the contractors to do it without handles is you really want it and feels that you can slide them without a handle to grab onto. There should not be much issues.

Your guests might get confused which is the first panel to open though without handles 😂

I love the clean look you’re going for—but yeah, sliding glass doors without handles can be a bit tricky in daily life. They do look sleek, but every time you reach to slide them, you’ll probably wish you had something to grip. I’ve seen the minimum-hardware style in some coworking spaces—it’s doable, but not the most user-friendly if you're doing it often.

If you want true minimalism, consider a recessed or flush pull instead of no handle at all. That still keeps the clean lines but gives you something functional to grab. Totally personal preference, but it’s worth trying out (ask the contractor if they can mock one up) before committing.

Either way, nice design thinking—you’re onto something stylish! 😊

Hey! The contractor says it might be difficult to open/close without proper handles, not so much the building part.

I’ve seen similar setups in office spaces too — they look great but yeah, I get that they’re not ideal for frequent use. Still deciding if the look is worth the trade-off!
