Vendors recommended by your ID is always kind of tricky. It depends where you are getting your stuff from. Some big retail stores like Courts, Harvey Norman, Best Denki, etc are usually competitive in terms of their prices as they have the quantities of scale with their licensed brands. They are usually cheaper.
Do note that some IDs do get a kickback (commission) from their furniture vendors for each successful referral. You would also have to consider the value-added service provided by the ID who would cover the hassle of travelling back to the merchant store if the items have defects. But make sure you clarify with the ID on that prior to confirming. Some of the IDs whom I have met also would take the time to shop and discuss with you at the stores too.
