So I just got back two sky high quotes from interior design firms X & Y for my 4-room resale HDB around 93sqm, and I'm kinda shocked lah. They're asking for an arm and a leg for basic works! Throwing old stuffs or storing them in storage while renovating?

Wondering which is more cost effective? For context I'm renovating a 5 room whole house. Got lots of cupboards and beds to throw or otherwise store in rented storage. Anyone who has some experience to share on this? Another option is to sell, but doubt anyone wants them as they're too bulky and need to hire movers.

Uncommon terms in renovation contract? Pls share

Came across a term in my renovation contract that threw me off. It's about a "progressive payment schedule" with 25% deposit upfront. Followed by 40% and 30% and then a final 5% upon completion. Is this standard practice? Feels a bit daunting to navigate as a first-timer. Anything else I should be looking out for?

    ID asking for additional payment

May I ask around if anybody knows if it is common practice for IDs to bill for additional payment after signing contract?  For my home renovation, we had to make a few changes to some of the dimensions during the progress of the works which the ID agreed. However, it wasn't made explicitly clear by the ID that the chan...
