Hey peeps I am will be looking to purchase my first HDB flat sometime this year. I am looking at an area of 3 room HDB. In my research, there are some differences between HDBs that are older than 20 to 30 years old, and those that are built after that.
From my observation, the older ones generally have more squarish (or box-ish) floor plans. Usable floor area wise they are more value (less unusable space), but it is generally compromised by awkward placement of the rooms (such as the storeroom that cuts into the floor area of the kitchen).
I am also a little concern about the old building's age as I have heard issues from some that older buildings might be more prone to water leakages or mould.
Also in certain flats older HDBs generally have more units build on the same floor (long corridor styles), compared to the newer ones which are more point-block (4 to units per floor).
Are there any other factors I should look out for?
