"Hi guys, I am writing here to share my first-time renovation experience and knowledge with everyone.
First of all like anyone, we researched a lot and looked around for renovation company's review especially focusing on the review of their interior designer.
We met Johnathon Tan from Weiken at Oxley. First impression was good, he welcome us with a very warming smile. Explained well in details and listen to our needs first and does not show over confident that we have to follows his idea.
*The most important is to feel really comfortable with your ID and you feel easy to communicate with him without problems. If the ID let you feel uneasy or showing sign of he not so sure about what he can suggest for your home renovation. It is better to find someone else. Do not have to feel sorry because it is your home and it is important that you pick the correct person to save a lot of your time and cost.
Firstly you need to know what is your dream house theme you desire.
Korean style, Holiday resort feel, scandinavian, industrial or etc..
Pick a few theme not just one so you can research and compare which one suit you most. For us we go for Korean + Scandinavian. We searched and saved a lot of interior design photos we like and make into different folders. Example Bedrrom, Kitchen, Living room. So we can visualise and also to show our ID what we prefer.
*When you are clear of what you want it is easier and more systematic to make a decision. So you can focus on selecting the correct texture/design for your renovation. When you are uncertain about the design you want, it would be hard for you to make the correct decision.
Weiken gave us 3d draft of our home interior design. Don't be shy to comment to your ID for necessarily changes. Sometime can be mistake the design is not your design or it is not following what you shared to the ID.
The time will comes for you to select your floor tiles/overlay, wall tiles and etc..
The 3d draft from Weiken it is just for your visual reference. For us their supplier does not have the same kitchen tile design that we like in the 3d draft. It is important you look online for supplier and find the tiles you like or check with your ID if they have the same material as shown in the 3d draft.
After you have confirmed all the materials you want for your cabinets, drawers, wardrobe, kitchen top, etc.. Remember to double confirm with your ID that they have supply and help you to order. You will end up thought you have selected the material and later found out that they do not have the stock and you have to re-pick another material. Very important to confirm that they have supply.
Don't feel shy to test the material, touch it feel it and even step on it. We go for overlaying flooring and just one sample piece really can't help you visualise. So it is better to find 2 or 3 pieces and stack it together to have a better view and also to have your feet feel the texture."
