Hey peeps! Anyone tried the HDB basic reno package (Optional Component Scheme) scheme? Saw some flooring and tiles samples at HDB hub. They don't look that good, but seem affordable compared to what's in the market. Booking for my 3-room flat and thinking if it's worth going for. Thoughts?

For a 3-room, you're looking at around $3K+ for living/dining and bedroom flooring, and another $2-3K for internal doors and sanitary fittings. Vinyl floors and polished tiles, plus standard doors and basic sanitary ware. It's decent for the price, but if you're after something more stylish or durable, might wanna explore outside. 🤔

Went through this with the OCS for my BTO. The OCS package is alright for a start, especially if budget tight. But remember lah, quality wise, you get what you pay for. Can consider upgrading certain parts later when got more $$. For a start, it makes your place livable without much hassle.

It’s like economical but basic. I skipped the package, hunted for bargains, and customized a bit. Can get good deals outside if you know where to look. By agaration, your cost will be at least 1.5x more than OCS.

If you can wait and shop around, sometimes got sales or better materials. Also, if you upgrade in future, need to spend again. Better think long-term, invest wisely from the start.

Thanks guys! Leaning towards OCS now - maybe take the package for the basics, then slowly upgrade later. Budget’s quite tight for me... 😅
